The example of the billions given to Wal-Mart as its workers paid poverty wages is a good reminder of inherent flaws in the Canada Jobs Grant.

Interesting article about Canadian experiment with Basic Income (1970-74) in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Recent research on results of that study found that a guaranteed basic income
* reduced the # of hospital visits
and
* lowered the high-school drop-out rate

Not to mention ensured nobody had to choose between paying hydro and buying bread...
